Despite What Your Bumper Sticker Tells You… (a)

It has been said, over and over again, that Freedom isn't free. Freedom, this implies, is something that can be bought and sold, either by money, or by violence. However, I wonder how free is Freedom that can be taken by money, or the barrel of a gun? Or worse than that, how free is your Freedom when you placidly hand it over to some great entity that you think will protect you? Especially when that entity has historically brought nothing but harm.

I say that for Freedom to really be called Freedom, it has to have no strings attached. To be totally free we have to free our selves in a way that can never be taken from us, otherwise our so-called "freedom" is really just another thing that enslaves us. We become slaves to the idea that anyone or anything might come along and steal our "freedom" from us. This type of thinking breeds anxiety, paranoia, fear, and a sense of us against them. These things have no place in the mind of the truly freed person.

To free ourselves we have to know, not believe, but know, that the Freedom we are searching for has been in our possession all along. We have merely forgotten about it. We are a species that has lost track of our divinity, and therefore of our Freedom. To be free we must know, not believe, but know, that there is no governor, there is no dictator, and there is no Death. We are all already absolutely free. All borders, divisions, and separations between us, whether literal or figurative, were only put there by those who have forgotten that they are the spark of divinity. All we really need to be truly free is to remember who we really are. We are ageless and timeless, ever evolving toward our original selves in our original homes. Just close your eyes, tap your heels three times and say, "There's no place like home." Welcome to never ending Freedom!
